September 19 - Seeing God's Glory In Our Children

Peter Baur, Head of Faith Christian School, will kick off our three-part Purposeful Parenting Series with “Seeing God’s Glory.” He’ll share how seeing children as fellow image-bearers of Christ can profoundly impact how we parent our children through the seasons they will face. Shifting our perspective to see our children in this way equips us to make the most of daily teachable moments to encourage our children. Through inspiring personal stories, thought-provoking movie clips, and stirring insight, this presentation will refresh you and transform your parenting.

October 29 - Screenstrong

We invite you to hear a Screenstrong presentation by Emily Harrison, mother to two and President of the Faith Christian School Parent Volunteer Organization (PVO). She will present scientific data and a biblical worldview on how parents can raise their children in an internet-saturated world. She’ll focus on parenting in a way that honors who God created your children to be and develops the resilience to resist the damaging messages or influences in our culture today. This is for parents of children in all grades and ages. Emily will provide the tools parents need to understand what studies have shown is the developmentally appropriate use of screen time for each age and practical ways to become “screenstrong.”

November 21 - Building Sturdy Kids

In our last Purposeful Parenting Series of 2025, we invite you to hear Keith McCurdy, former Board Chair and alumn parent. Based in Roanoke, VA, Keith is a family and parenting educator and consultant, a nationally recognized speaker, founder and president of Live Sturdy, and president and CEO of Total Life Counseling. He has worked with more than 15,000 (you read that right!) families and individuals for over 30 years in the field of mental health.

A licensed professional counselor and therapist known for grounding his advice and ideas in (capital T) Truth, he gives parents tools and perspective to help their kids grow into sturdy, mature adults. This talk will be for parents of children of all ages. (No childcare provided.)
